Amherst Country Club is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, under the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System, the educational division of Audubon International. Amherst is one of only 661 courses in the world to receive this honor, and the only certified course in New Hampshire. They have been certified since 1997.
To reach certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas:
environmental planning
wildlife & habitat management
outreach & education
integrated pest management
water conservation
water quality management.
